Merci encore! :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :)

Excellent, wonderful glance. For me a little difference in the background, perhaps following the light and shade say dark on the right light on the left. If you have a computer scan it in and darken the scan, to see if I'm right. I like it so much. Good work    :8)

 SaRaH_08 - 10/09/08 à 02:41 répondre
Thank you!! I'm not really sure to understand :S:, but do you mean that one side of my background is more dark than the other? I have a problem with my scanner, there is always a spot of light on my portraits (places more light than others). I can't control it unfortunately... :( :blowkiss:

 brainfree - 10/09/08 à 09:09 répondre
Your drawing of the face is excellent and I wouldn't alter anything. My very small observation is that background is important to the way the face looks, if dark it can bring the face out, if light the opposite. So how to help with your next drawing well I tried to give a computer way of doing it, but a simpler way would be for me to show you, so hold the thought background! I will only be a few hours doing two paintings. :8)

Problems, problems I have had a day full of them I'll have to leave my little task for a day or two, I have family problems. :8)

There over now and things are back to normal I have an 87 year old father My wife and I look after him. The Keira K. shaded painting I hope will help to show the difference across a drawing or painting. A dark background can if we darken then face can enhances the face. A light background lightens the face then it looks fresh and clean, have a look and see what I'm talking about. I've done others have a look and see from my last say six. You draw excellently I'm not criticising but I hope this will improve parts of your work perhaps you over look. I hope this makes sense as what I'm trying to say is easy when talking but to write down it is complicated. Sorry it's another long one. :8)

 SaRaH_08 - 13/10/08 à 23:39 répondre
Thanks brainfree! :) I think I understand the difference between light and dark background. I'll try drawing with 2b, 3b ...pencils to create more contrast, to see how it would look like, because it's a little difficult to create this effect only with HB pencil. :/ :blowkiss: :blowkiss:

 brainfree - 14/10/08 à 08:58 répondre
Ok, it's so much easier if you see it (contrast) yourself. There's help at hand, so long as you don't live on the moon. The drawing bit in a pencil is call the lead ( OK I'm Old) it's made of graphite, you can buy cheap graphite block in 2B to 4B pieces, of varying size, I have many 1/4 inch X 2inch to 1/2inch to 5inches long these will help, some have a slight bend in them for background work. Some you can shape with a craft knife, I would not have to explain about these to a boy because all boys are nuts on gadgets or tools. I hope I'm not being patronising, if I am it's my age. After all I'm a granddad. Well technically I'm not But I'm a Dad. I have a niece living in Canada and my son and his wife will be there today, on holiday as a part of a trek trail from USA to Canada. :8)

 SaRaH_08 - 17/10/08 à 02:35 répondre
Thanks! Graphite block? I've bought a little pack of "softlead pencils" which contains 12 different types of B and H pencils. Sorry, I don't know how to say it in a better way.. I only used a HB and a 2B pencil up to now, but I'll try the others soon. Your son and his wife were in Canada? :hi:My greetings! :) :blowkiss:

 brainfree - 17/10/08 à 09:23 répondre
OK, It's a pity about the Graphite block, it's that good, it would improve your large area's of shading, Another way around this to save OLD pencil and when you get enough, break them up and get the lead centres crush them up, then when there's enough with a piece cloth dip the cloth in the crushed lead and rub onto the areas. It will save the time shading stokes. :8)

Very good work of Keira Knightley, friend SaRaH_08, the fine and elegant line that you give him the makes but feminine and delicate, characteristic of this actress and that you have been able to transmit to your work in a masterful way, its very natural and expressive look, seems to get lost in thoughts. The texture and tonality that you apply to the whole work have great harmony. Very beautiful my friend works I congratulate you. :) :ok:     :whip: :whip: :whip:  :hi:

 SaRaH_08 - 09/11/08 à 22:20 répondre
Merci beaucoup! Oui, je crois que j'ai un peu de misère à faire des beaux nez  Je vais essayer en variant les nuances, voir si ça va aider (pour les prochains dessins) :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:
