It is well worth it as I think it's your best work yet for me interesting and powerful in content. I Britain both Buddy Holly and Bill Halley are held in a kind of worship as they where seen to be the first to arrive in Britain. I know the Beatles and many Liverpool groups simplly loved Buddy and other black soul artists. I know I did.
Yes and thank God for you and all Britians remembering Buddy,Bill,Gene,Eddie.Britian has taste and England swings...because as of late I worry, you see I feel that in American school systems kids today should be taught about Bobby Dylan,John Cash, and the early days of music with Frank and Elvis. When that plane crashed on Feb 3 1959,something of great musical and social promise really did die with those fellas. When you were a younger man did you see any live shows in Britian Brian?
Music is the reflection of society. At the moment in Britain we have been watching a series of programmes about the Eurovision Song Contest which started out as about 10 countries competing to find a winner now there are about 50 contries and all the old soviet conutries and it's a farce they all vote for each othe no matter how bad the song. So when looking back a the greats of Yesterday it's about money today, and share of artist wealth. CD are dead because every couple of years the format will change I like old scrachy records or people making their own music the days you talk about they did. I wa there I was in a group we were more interested in girls and not money. Good music came from your Country and mine and we should always remeber it. ROCK and Pop rule.
YES!!! exactly I am in my 20s but feel an old soul....Eurovision was the break for Abba I think....Waterloo maybe? But could you imagine Abba trying to make it today, the way tastes run?
In those days they from Britain had to compete agains Lulu or Cliff Richards or singing popstar such as Buck Fizz all established groups or single artist now they are all made stars like. Nothing wrong but up again favourites in the Eastern block. My self I like new artist, or many very good British Groups we have so many. MUsic is changing back to venue or concert watching as theve killed the record industry and now the CD and blamed the public for downloads they invented.
Clue me in Brian, whats the scoop on Amy Winehouse,we have just heard of her divorce...love her.Who is being slated as the next big star from Britian? The last I heard was Arctic Monkeys...and Lily Allen, who battles Peaches Geldof.I LOVE PJ Harvey...
Well, Duffy is the biggest star at the moment, unfortunatly Amy ( love her Music ) Winehouse is writing and trying to clean up. all the groups Arctic Monkeys and many others share the lime light Lilly Allen has just clean up her act and is making a come back. Peaches is very quite at the moment. At the moment is all about TV with new drama series. Of course theres the uusal bunch of comedies hoping to be the next big this and a few old olds scrapong the bottem of the barrel. We seem to have a clean up TV campaign on at the Moment with searing being top of the list it gort so bad here even cooks on cookery programmes were swearing, and Bad taste was shoe by Jonathan Ross a talk show host he was being paid 36 million dollars a year to swear nad insult people. I do that for 1 million dollars a year. In Britain we have a saying it is the same saying with you probably 'He was taking the P---' and thinking he was clever. Our paper hold people up one day only to bring then down the next.
I see, papers like the Daily Mirror I bet.We have been seeing a show called Keeping Up Appearances,we get BBC America here,my mom likes a series called Cash In The Attic, and we used to see reuns of The Prisoner,Rumpole w/Leo Mckern, and all Avengers and Dr Who.I worship Honor Blackman, that woman eludes sex appeal effortlessly,Brian how about Honor Blackman someday?
Thank you Karen,I did one after all, remember what I said about exhaustion,I stepped out got some fresh air and said...No,must do it!...I am feeling the strain this morning, sleep is understated, but Buddy deserves itThank you again!
Many thanks Julia,I put an hour of intense work into it,with alot of love,50 years ago today he died.I am adding two more portraits that will complete this, just decided...Richie and The Bopper...
Thanks abunch John, glad you like it! Give it a go,we need to beef up Buddys gallery here,I will get Al on it,we will form a Holly comittee, lol.I have the Bopper completed and am working on Richie now.
I wondered how you popped out paintings so fast...I forgot about paper made for acrylics...although that's a pricey sheet, it's not quite like canvas and stretchers and stapling and sizing....and $25 a pop
True.98% of my gallery pieces is canvas and canvas panels but occasionally I use these sheets,I love them but they have an odd size 9x12,and it's hard to mix mediums other than acrylics,I used oil pastels for this as well, very tricky...and my good ole' Sharpie...
another friend sometimes paints with Golden Acrylics on very large papers...the same person who cuts "brushes" from foam rubber to create giant 15' strokes
Alright, thanks! I am encouraging others here to build galleries for Buddy, the Bopper, and Ritchie if we all work together we can honor the music forever, and they will not be forgotten!
don't forget also Dion, Burnette, eddie cochran and so many others... the stars of r'n'roll sleep in the heaven of rockabilly but we ressuscite them with our drawings !!!
