I realized 2 things AFTER I took a photo of this drawing!
1) The photo of this drawing makes his beard look too light, which makes his chin look too long
2) Photos never look as good as the original? HA!
Yeah !!!!!!!! what a cool face !!!! Yes, you're right...photo never looks as goog as the original. Why don't you use a scanner ???? size too big ???? but anyway, your work is great...(mouth and teeth, eyes, all is stunning...(I always have a problem with the background...I want a "black" very very black, but it's never what I want !!!!!!!
my scanner makes everything look white-washed. Depending on the day outside, my photos come out different with natural light in my house. As for a really black back ground, of course use a high number B, but then use a harder pencil, i use F, to blend the 2-6B graphite. Try it?
Thank you for craftiness, I shall have to try on a next drawing !!! (and you know, I ordered Mike Sibley's book...I'm waiting for...) thanks for information !
Here is the handsome man than I expected ... Mr Will Smith ... talented artist like you with your pencil drawings ... you do not go unnoticed as they are remarkably well designed .... A lot of charisma ... you too !!!...
Congratulations and I kiss you Rick
I'm gonna get a really big head with all your "over the top" comments lol. Love your Jolie!!! I'm trying to get inspired for the next one. Who to draw? hmmm
you are me laugh Rick always do and this makes me feel good ...
It is superb tone Will Smith ... I am very happy that you like Angelina Jolie .... My For your next design chooses a blonde actress ... I am blonde and very naughty
I'm down with the blonde and naughty part! I was contemplating Robert Redford and Paul Newman in that western movie? I find a TON of gr8 pics at www.allposters.com and figured out a way to save the high res photos using Outlook. I will email you how if u want?
french translation is zero ... and I do not understand much ... you are American .. but I love Americans and America strong .... You mean your drawing it will be a face but in 2 separate sides ... good evening ... Huge kisses to you Rick and all the family ... until tomorrow
Your English is 10 times better than my French!!! All I know how to say is "voolay voo coo shay a vec muah"! HAHA! You know, that song, lol? I decided to draw the 2 actors together from Prison Break tv show - Amaury Nolasco and Wentworth Miller. Nighty nite!!
Hi there Rick! WHERE ARE THE GLASSES???!!! This looks just great! Sweet actually.Leave the chin the way it is, you're too severe...you almost sound swiss Perfectionist?
hehe...Thx! his bandanna gave me hell. Gonna start one tonight of the 2 guys on Prison Break (Amaury Nolasco and Wentworth Miller) It's a pic I found, most partial faces, one thru a fence...inspired me. Shud be done by Saturday? ha!
I'm trying to do a Ben Harper; I just love that guy! It's a very nice pic with him touching his hat, oh I can't explain, you'll see. I just don't have so much time anymore! Too bad...
True about the photos never looking the same on internet. If you ever work with color which I absolutely hope you will!!! you will see that the colors do not come close to the original drawing. I love to work with colored pencil and pastels too it gives a new challenge having to deal with color and values. Try some my friend you are going to rock with them I have a feeling you will be excellent with it soon. I always struggle with value especially the darks and with color I seem to be a bit pale or too bright but it is fun and I am hoping to improve even though I am impatient and do not like details.
I bought some color pencils at Christmas, but want to master graphite first? I figure I've been at is seriously for 6 months now, maybe in another 6 months? I read it's a lot of blending diff colors?
I do use a method that was taught to me by an in city artist. He took it in college. He uses the colored pencil almost like watercolor pencil. By melting the pencil with a solvent actually pipe lighter fluid from a plastic container not tin it does rust from the tin. I use a small cap it is a hot solvent it actually melts the wax in the colored pencil. Prisma colored pencils are the best ones I found with that method. I also use a wall putty that you can buy from office max it is the rubbery kind like a putty eracer but better at picking out highlights both with graphite and with the colored pencil. It is stickier and I have used one piece for over a year. It is good because as it gets dirty you just fold it again on itself and you are ready to use it over and over. This is a good way to clean up the background of a piece that you have smudged. I have a lot of tricks keep reading my comments you may fine ideas on producing faster works if you are to become famous speed is important.
Okay when you are ready just remember you can write to lionfish9@comcast.net or to my facebook page it you are a member it is a nice community and very easy to use much easier than My space!!
wow your gallery is fantastic....i like very much will smith!!conratulations!!!(by the way i hink u must be one of my favourite artists because u draw amazingly!!!)
Thank you!!! I see you are 13 yrs old? I did NOT draw like that at 13!! In fact, I made a huge mistake and quit drawing at 13. NOW, 30 years later, I just started about 6 months ago, because I wanted a hobby? I DID know about shading, etc, but never did people before, just landscapes. SO...if drawing is your passion...my advise is to NEVER STOP!!!
super portrait de Will Smith !!! WAW !
It's funny how you look back on your stuff from just 4 months ago and think, "I can do much better now". I learn with each new drawing Thanks for your comments
In your case it's not improvement!!!
Only a change of tecnique!!!!
This one is PERFECT in my opnion!!!!
Instead i really need to buy a book to learn tecniques for drawing portraits..but an italian book!!!!
I have bought 4 blu tac from the site you suggested few days ago, but i didn't have them jet.I really have a lot to learn!!!!
Also, I had learned to take better photos of my drawings. This looks horrible compared to the original drawing. I wish we could update our drawings here somehow? Blue tac is good for removing graphite, but I'm still using a kneaded eraser for highlights and certain types of removal
I started with a scanner, but it didn't pick up as much detail and looked white-washed? The Blue-tac has it's place I am finding, but I can use a kneaded eraser in many ways!
