You know what? I get my inspiration for certain PHOTOS, NOT celebs! Check out this photographer named Martin Schoeller! Google him and will see what I mean? He takes photos of people EXACTLY like I have learned to want to draw them!!!

Yes, he remembered you! It was a great get away, but I honestly did not enjoy drawing textures, chickens etc. I did come away with some techniques, and convinced of using new materials such as blue-tac for erasing and Mellotex paper!!!

Hi J.R. did you buy his book it is sensational. I use a white putty found at any office max store it is much better than putty eracer. The paper I use is stonehendge sometimes for mixed media. It has a cotton content and a medium texture it accepts both wet and dry applications . It used to be used in print making and is very durable.

Oh I got his book in March and studied it big time! It is excellent and if anyone only buys one book ever, that should be it?

I agree with you J.R. his book is very very good. I wish I could go to his workshops is he going to remain in the states for a while or is going back to England now?

He was doing 5 weeks in the states. New york, IL, Indiana Wisconsin and Texas. We are too good for them tho. I did not learn much but enjoyed 4 days away, ha!

Thanks J.R. I know that the workshops are expensive. He is really better at dogs anyway. I did learn a lot from his book. He is really fussy with detailing and I don't like being that intricate. I guess you could say I like French Impressionism kind of. Anyway I am glad you saw how he conducts a class and maybe got some good ideas about what will work for you.

I bought the book off the internet back in March, and I ate it up! It's a tad expensive, but was the 1st and last book I may ever buy? I'm 100% self taught. It basically confirmed what I already knew instinctively

Hmm, isn't that the best way? I had art lessons at school and was useless - but they never made us draw portraiats! I've learned so much more from experimenting and picking up tips from fab artists on here.

I will be teaching a celebrity portrait class at a local college for the public next month, IF enough people sign up? We shall see?

I must say, I perfer drawing men! Most of the beautiful actresses are too smooth, to often seen. Men are more interesting to draw in my opinion!
