Thank you, I have a little project underhand with the film: 'The Good the bad and the ugly', but it seems to be very difficult to paint and just looks bad at the moment but I will continue.

Thank you, I'm a big fan of the spaghetti western and also Clint E. The Sergio Leone type of films were one offs a bit like me I like to be different of original as I call it. I have been watching a few western latly so you never know what has stuck in my head. Brian
Yes, I think the dollar westerns, along with Josey Wales, Two Mules, High Plains Drifter and Unforgiven were probably my faves. His other roles vary but these were archetypal coolness!
Just finished watching the Godfather trilogy they are great film of an excellent type although I feel the first two were the best the third is not disappointing. I like westerns has simple script concept like good and bad and lots of very good actors. I love film I hope it shows in my work. I have great problems making portraits seem new and fresh or original. The writers strike of two years ago has a lot to answer for as I notice a trend for films to have sudden ends and plots that very why the western film is always good is that it never disappoints they have a beginning, middle and end. Take ‘No country for old men’ or as I call it no plot for old men an excellent cast with some heavy weight actors the plot lead on excellently, ‘then at the end a short breakfast speech and gone! Very disappointing. I thought it was me! so I asked all of my friends and most said they either did not see the End or were disappointed. In the days of the big studio’s someone would have put it right. Imagine my surprise when it won Oscars well the industry must be self promoting. Brian.
Yes, I think films today are more geared for style over substance. The studios want a guaranteed quick return so they stick to franchises and formulas, a bit like pop music sticking to karaoke-style X-Factor contestants - integrity & quality are seen as too risky.
We agree on the Film industry but not on the pop industry I see nothing wrong with X factor or programs to manipulate people. First TV is empty of Ideas I would rather listen to a youngster singing even in karaoke-style than nothing or people eating worms or spiders. Every star started somewhere they all came from what I call in front of the mirror with a hair brush. When I was in the 50’s or 60’s in my small town of 25,000 people there were 4 dance Hall’s every club 12 had an artist on a Saturday Even Tom Jones played at one of them. Now only two clubs have artists and they are never singers. So how do the Leona Lewis’s or others start by singing on the streets. Sting and others hate others getting stardom as it means less for them. I like the give a chance programs because even if the fail after six months that’s the way it has always been, at the turn of the last century people liked comedians no Tom O’Conner, Frank Carson, Lenny Henry and Les Dawson or the Fact that The Jam appeared on it and Paul Weller was beaten by Sue Pollard a female comedian. Britain has a long history of Rags to Riches and talent shows I don’t care were they come from so long as they are good. Brian
Sting's comments are being misinterpreted. He said there's room for X-Factor but at the moment it's crowding out genuine artists, to the long term detriment of the music industry. Where are the new acts & original ideas going to come from if all that's promoted is the past recycled in the form of a new singer? Your own example is a case in point - the Jam (& Paul Weller) have contributed alot more to culture than Sue Pollard ever did!
Yes, there's a place for it but at the mo' it's stifling British creativity.
Ok we will settle this by saying, originallity is the main thing. If an artist sings well like say Susan Boyle or Shriley Bassey who cares if they never wrote a song in their lives, but have inspired thousands. Mind saying that my favourite at the moment is Duffy who does compose. Brian. I have heard Wild horses in concert by the Rolling Stones But I have never heard it sung as well as Susan B did in the X factor show and her Album is excellent. Also Paul Potts is an wonderful singer. Will Young composes and sings wonderfully I think for those three alone the X factor should be congratutlated I hate the show but the artists are generally good and today if you want to be a different type of artist you have to go along with the TV as it is the only sure way of getting into our homes. For me wether Stings comments were miss quoted or not is not important TALENT is the main important thing also a way into the Music industry. The best Talent program last year was the choir one.
